The purpose of this course is to prepare nurses with the knowledge, inspiration, motivation, and skills they need for lifestyle transformation!
Embrace the Pilates method as a practical and sustainable approach to holistic self-care.
Participants will gain knowledge and skills to integrate a personal Pilates-based holistic self-care practice and application of Pilates principles into their daily lives.
The intention of this integration will be to develop self-awareness and core strength, improve posture, balance, and agility, reduce pain and tension, learn to use the breath, movement, and stretching to connect mind, body, and spirit.
The principles of Pilates and their application to activities of daily living will be demonstrated.
Participants will learn to recognize when they are out of alignment and cues to help them improve and strengthen correct posture.
The relationship of posture and spinal alignment to the seven basic chakras and associated organs and glandular systems will be discussed. Correct postural alignment and Pilates exercises will be taught in the standing, sitting, supine, prone, and side-lying positions.
Pilates exercises are coordinated with the breath so that the activity becomes a moving meditation.
Breathwork, particularly the 4-7-8 breath has been shown to initiate the parasympathetic relaxation response.
Breathwork and meditation are proven to reduce stress and increase performance and resilience across all aspects of life and are included as part of this holistic self-care practice.
Personal practice is an amazing portal to gaining self awareness, letting go of judgements and limitations, setting intentions, and developing resilience.
